Graduates will be responsible for managing the operation and changeover of tissue conversion plant and equipment that is complex in terms of the decision making and troubleshooting skills required to meet full operational capacity. Graduates will also supervise the work of other employees in the changeover and operation of tissue converting plant and equipment. Graduate profile Graduates of this qualification will be able to: Explain and comply with essential legislative and workplace requirements for health, safety and quality requirements relevant to the tissue converting sector of the pulp and paper industry. Demonstrate operational knowledge of technical aspects and quality management and improvement of tissue conversion processes in a manufacturing environment. Lead the operation and changeover of complex machinery specific to their plant and role, and monitor and control the machinery to meet and improve on plant performance, process, and quality requirements. Outcome Statement Apply skills and knowledge relevant to the effective performance and facilitation of improvement of tasks relevant to their role. Education pathway The New Zealand Certificate in Tissue Converting (Level 3) is the recommended prerequisite for this qualification. This certificate can lead to the National Certificate in Competitive Manufacturing (Level 4). Employment pathway Qualification Developer Holders of this qualification will have the skills and knowledge to work in supervisory roles managing the operation of complex machinery in a tissue conversion manufacturing environment. Forest Industries Training and Education Council (FITEC) Qualification Specification Qualification award This qualification may be awarded by accredited organisations, and the industry training organisation arranging training leading to the qualification in the industry for which it is recognised under section 5 of the Industry Training Act 1992. The formal document certifying the award of this qualification bears the New Zealand Qualifications Framework logo, which indicates the qualification is a quality assured New Zealand qualification. Evidence requirements for managing consistency All TEOs either arranging training or delivering programmes that lead to the award of the qualification are required to participate in a consistency process scheduled by NZQA. This will involve reviewing evidence associated with graduate’s achievement of outcomes, and agreeing acceptable thresholds for qualification outcome achievement and areas for improvement. To demonstrate how graduates are achieving the qualification graduate profile outcomes, TEOs are required to produce their own evidence in a high level report. Evidence will include the following: Employer surveys to determine if graduates of the qualification meet the graduate profile outcomes. Evidence of effective processes to ensure programmes continue to meet current industry needs. A range of workplace evidence demonstrating that graduates meet the graduate profile outcomes. Credits completed to meet the requirements of this outcome cannot be used to meet the requirements of the following outcome. Mandatory This outcome may be demonstrated through assessment against any unit standards from Tissue Converting Domain. Optional All credits for this outcome must be at Level 4 or above. Transition information Replacement information This qualification replaced the National Certificate in Wood Manufacturing Generic Skills (Tissue Converting) (Level 4) [Ref: 0652] Trainees currently enrolled in the National Certificate in Wood Manufacturing - Generic Skills (Tissue Converting) (Level 4) [Ref: 0652] may either complete that qualification or transfer to the New Zealand Certificate in Tissue Converting (Level 4) [Ref: 1864]. The last date for assessments to take place for the National Certificate in Wood Manufacturing - Generic Skills (Tissue Converting) (Level 4) is December 2014. FITEC will continue to recognise the National Certificate in Wood Manufacturing Generic Skills (Tissue Converting) (Level 4) [Ref: 0652]. All new candidates will be enrolled in programmes leading to the award of the New Zealand Certificate in Tissue Converting (Level 4) [Ref: 1864].
