Graduates will be capable of operating tissue conversion plant and equipment under supervision. Graduate profile Graduates of this qualification will be able to: Explain and comply with essential legislative and workplace health and safety requirements relevant to the tissue converting sector of the pulp and paper industry. Outcome Statement Explain basic concepts of quality management, quality systems and processes, and methods used for improvement of production processes in a manufacturing environment. Operate tissue conversion machinery specific to their plant and role, and monitor and control that machinery to meet plant performance, process, and quality requirements. Apply skills and knowledge required for the effective performance of tasks specific to their role. Education pathway This certificate can lead to the New Zealand Certificate in Tissue Converting (Level 3). Employment pathway Holders of this qualification will have the skills and knowledge to work in entry-level positions in a tissue conversion manufacturing environment. Qualification Developer Forest Industries Training and Education Council (FITEC) Qualification Specification Qualification award This qualification may be awarded by accredited organisations, and the industry training organisation arranging training leading to the qualification in the industry for which it is recognised under section 5 of the Indus try Training Act 1992. The formal document certifying the award of this qualification bears the New Zealand Qualifications Framework logo, which indicates the qualification is a quality assured New Zealand qualification. It may also include the name or logo of the awarding body. Review period 60 months To be reviewed in 2016. Evidence requirements for managing consistency All TEOs either arranging training or delivering programmes that lead to the award of the qualification are required to participate in a consistency process scheduled by NZQA. This will involve reviewing evidence associated with graduate’s achievement of outcomes, and agreeing acceptable thresholds for qualification outcome Qualification Reference 1866 © New Zealand Qualifications Authority 2012 Page 1 of 3 achievement and areas for improvement. To demonstrate how graduates are achieving the qualification graduate profile outcomes, TEOs are required to produce their own evidence in a high level report. Evidence will include the following: Employer surveys to determine if graduates of the qualification meet the graduate profile outcomes. Evidence of effective processes to ensure programmes continue to meet current industry needs. A range of workplace evidence demonstrating that graduates meet the graduate profile outcomes. Candidates must demonstrate competency in a tissue converting manufacturing environment. Operate tissue conversion machinery specific to their plant and role, and monitor and control that machinery to meet plant performance, process, and quality requirements (20 credits). Credits completed to meet the requirements of this outcome cannot be used to meet the requirements of the following outcome. Mandatory This outcome may be demonstrated through assessment against the following unit standards: 21508, 159, 22969, 22977; Optional Or any unit standards from Tissue Converting Domain. Apply skills and knowledge required for the effective performance of tasks specific to their role (12 credits) This outcome may be demonstrated through assessment against the following unit standards: 6518, 2397, 2401, 159, 22969, 22970, 22973, 22975, 22976; Optional Or any unit standards from Competitive Manufacturing and/or Tissue Converting Domains. Transition information Replacement information This qualification replaced the National Certificate in Wood Manufacturing Generic Skills (Tissue Converting) (Level 2) [Ref: 0650]. Trainees currently enrolled in the National Certificate in Wood Manufacturing - Generic Skills (Tissue Converting) (Level 2) [Ref: 0650] may either complete that qualification or transfer to the New Zealand Certificate in Tissue Converting (Level 2) [Ref: 1862]. The last date for assessments to take place for the National Certificate in Wood Manufacturing - Generic Skills (Tissue Converting) (Level 2) is December 2014. FITEC will continue to recognise the National Certificate in Wood Manufacturing Generic Skills (Tissue Converting) (Level 2) [Ref: 0650]. All new candidates will be enrolled in programmes leading to the award of the New Zealand Certificate in Tissue Converting (Level 2) [Ref: 1862].
