There is a compulsory section and two strand options that candidates select according to whether they work or are intending to work in marina administration or operations. The compulsory section covers skills and knowledge related to marina administration and operations, including marina and marine industry knowledge, health and safety, electrical regulations, environmental knowledge, customer service, security, and communication. Both strands have elective choices from a wide range of domains that enable the candidate to customise the qualification to their work situation and interest. Those people who achieve the qualification with the Administration strand may progress to the National Certificate in Marine Sales and Services (Marine Retail and Distribution) (Level 4) [Ref: 1472]. Those people who achieve the qualification with the Operations strand may progress to the National Certificate in Boatbuilding (Level 4) [Ref: 0877]. Special Notes People in the workforce may have demonstrated competence in the outcomes specified in individual standards in this qualification. These candidates should seek recognition of their current competence wherever it is relevant to this qualification. Recognition of current competence must be carried out by accredited providers or registered assessors in accordance with NZQA guidelines. Unit standards and achievement standards that are equivalent in outcome are mutually exclusive for the purpose of award. Programmes leading to the award of version 2 of the qualification can start when the new version is registered.
