Transition Arrangements
This qualification has been replaced by the New Zealand Certificate in Fibreboard
Packaging (Level 4) [Ref: 1820].
The last date for entry into programmes leading to the replaced qualification is 31
December 2016.

Purpose
The Corrugated Case Converting industry is highly specialised due to the high cost and
complexity of the equipment needed to manufacture corrugated board for packaging.
Training toward assessment against the workplace based unit standards contained in this
qualification is confined to those plants throughout New Zealand which have this specialist
equipment installed.
This qualification is designed for people who are employed in the corrugated case
converting sector of the Fibreboard Packaging industry and who have already completed
the National Certificate in Corrugated Case Converting (Level 3) with strands in Flexo
Folder Gluer, Rotary Die Cutter Printer, Specialty Gluer, and Flat Bed Die Cutter
[Ref: 1202].
This qualification contains both a compulsory section and an elective section.
An optional strand has been included in this qualification for those wishing to operate a
printer flat bed die cutter in the converting of corrugated board.
Replacement Information
This qualification replaced the National Certificate in Corrugated and Solid Board
Converting (Flat Bed Die Cutting Operator) (Level 4) [Ref: 0503].
Special Notes
Prerequisite: National Certificate in Corrugated Case Converting (Level 3) with strands in
Flexo Folder Gluer, Rotary Die Cutter Printer, Specialty Gluer, and Flat Bed Die Cutter
[Ref: 1202], or demonstrate equivalent knowledge and skills.

Requirements for Award of Qualification
This qualification will be awarded to people who have met the requirements of both the
compulsory and elective sections. The optional strand will be awarded to people who also
meet the strand requirements.
Award of NZQF National Qualifications
Credit gained for a standard may be used only once to meet the requirements of this qualification.
Unit standards and achievement standards that are equivalent in outcome are mutually exclusive for the
purpose of award. The table of mutually exclusive standards is provided on the New Zealand Qualifications

Reviewed standards that continue to recognise the same overall outcome are registered as new versions
