The last date for entry into training programmes for this qualification is 31 December 2017. The last date of assessment for this qualification is 31 December 2019. People currently working towards achievement of this qualification may either complete the requirements for this qualification or transfer their results to the replacement. The aim of the certificate is to provide recognition of knowledge in the maintenance of amenity turf areas and practical application of maintenance tools and equipment to complete the tasks involved. The compulsory set recognises attainment of skills in use of amenity turf maintenance tools and small equipment mowing specific to amenity turf knowledge of weeds, pests, diseases, and disorders specific to amenity turf interpersonal communication skills. The electives recognise attainment of skills and knowledge which supplement the compulsory skill set and enable people to enhance their ability to undertake the diverse range of work covered by the amenity turf maintenance industry. Depending on the standards chosen from the elective section, this qualification may provide credits towards the National Certificate in Horticulture (Level 4) (Amenity Horticulture strand) [Ref: 1014] or the National Certificate in Sports Turf Management (Level 4) [Ref: 0203]. This qualification is designed for people involved in the care and/or maintenance of amenity turf areas which are not intended for sports use. People involved in the care and/or maintenance of sports turf areas are recommended to undertake sports turf qualifications, including the National Certificate in Sports Turf (Introduction to Turf Care) (Level 3) [Ref: 0700] and/or the National Certificate in Sports Turf Management (Level 4) [Ref: 0203]. Unit standards and achievement standards that are equivalent in outcome are mutually exclusive for the purpose of award. Version 3 was reissued in April 2010 to remove the Credit Transfer Arrangements section from the qualification document as it did not apply. Version 3 was issued following a review. Changes to structure and content Standards 1152, 1161, and 1307 have been added to the compulsory section. Set A and Set B have been removed from Elective 1, which is comprised of one list of standards. Standards 497, 6400, 6401, and 6402 have been moved from the compulsory section to Elective 1. Standards 19043, 19049, and 19050 have been replaced by standard 24552 in Elective 1. Standard 19052 has been replaced by standards 24536 and 24537 in Elective 1. Standard 14 has been replaced by standards 22174 and 22175 in Elective 1. Standards 1164 and 1299 have been added to Elective 1. Requirements for Elective 1 have changed from a minimum of 29 credits with a minimum of 12 credits at level 3 or above, to a minimum of 22 credits with a minimum of 7 credits at level 3 or above. Elective 2 requirements have changed to a minimum of 10 credits from anywhere on the National Qualifications Framework Previous versions of the qualification Version 2 was issued following the reviews of nursery production traffic control, agrichemical and amenity horticulture standards. Changes to structure and content included the replacement of expiring standards, and Elective 1 restructured. People working towards version 1 could either complete its requirements or transfer their results to version 2.
