NZQF NQ Ref 0470 Version 5 Page 1 of 4 National Certificate in Mediation (Level 5) Level 5 Credits 58 Purpose This qualification recognises people who have demonstrated the ability to conduct mediations in at least one of a variety of mediation contexts. The certificate is designed to recognise the ability of the competent mediator. It provides a means of recognising the current competency of mediators employed within state sector organisations. The structure recognises both the underpinning knowledge and the key skills of mediation and interpersonal communication necessary to conduct a professional mediation. This qualification may lead on from the National Certificate in Mediation (Interpersonal Communications) (Level 4) [Ref: 0968] or be completed independently of the Level 4 qualification. Unit standards and achievement standards that are equivalent in outcome are mutually exclusive for the purpose of award. Reviewed standards that continue to recognise the same overall outcome are registered as new versions and retain their identification number (ID). People currently working towards version 4 of this qualification may either complete the requirements for that version or transfer their results to version 5.
