1
This unit standard is for people who manage or seek to manage or supervise work
teams.

Glossary
Team, in the context of this unit standard, is a temporary or ongoing group whose
members are jointly charged with working together to achieve a clearly defined
purpose or outcome.
Project, refers to a defined series of coordinated tasks with a defined outcome, and
start and stop times. It is a one-off, non-recurring project.
Organisational requirements are those that are formally documented, and are
available for reference in the workplace.

This unit standard will be assessed on the basis of evidence of demonstrated
performance in the workplace, or in simulated situations that demand performance
equivalent to that required in work.

Outcome 1
Scope a project as a member of a project team.
Evidence requirements
1.1
The project is scoped and researched, and project objectives and desired
outcomes are established, in accordance with organisational requirements.
1.2
Resource requirements for the project are identified, and their availability
secured, in accordance with organisational requirements.

Outcome 2
Plan the project as a member of the project team.
Evidence requirements
2.1
Planning identifies and details items crucial for the project to be completed
within the prescribed time.
Range
items include but are not limited to – critical path analysis, risks,
contingency measures.
2.2
Planning provides a statement of project costings.
2.3
Planning includes establishment of portfolio responsibilities and effectiveness
criteria for individual team members.
2.4
Approval of plan is obtained from project manager and/or sponsor in
accordance with established procedures.
2.5
Planning includes monitoring of process and, where needed, modification of
items and reallocation of jobs.
Outcome 3
Implement the project as a member of the project team.
Evidence requirements
3.1
Individual responsibilities are researched, determined, and approved by project
manager.
Range
3.2
may include but is not limited to – timeframe, reporting
requirements, resources, authorities, linkages.
Individual responsibilities are carried out as established in the plan.
Outcome 4
Review personal performance as a member of the project team.
Evidence requirements
4.1
Performance is reviewed and evaluated in light of the established individual
effectiveness criteria.
4.2
Strengths and weaknesses of personal performance within the project are
recorded, and communicated appropriately to team members.

before they can report credits from assessment against unit standards or deliver courses

NZQA before they can register credits from assessment against unit standards.
Providers and Industry Training Organisations, which have been granted consent and
which are assessing against unit standards must engage with the moderation system that
applies to those standards.
