Range dissolved and suspended solids, settleable solids, floatable solids, removal rates, impacts on Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD) levels.
1.2 Primary wastewater treatment is described in terms of the process outputs.
Element 2
Range sludge, scum, settled effluent.
Describe the process options for primary wastewater treatment.
Performance criteria
2.1 The process options for primary treatment are described in terms of inputs, outputs and their mode of operation.
Range settlement, air flotation.
2.2 Primary treatment process options are described in terms of the advantages and disadvantages of each option.
Range evidence is required for at least two advantages and two disadvantages.
Element 3
Describe tests and performance measures of primary wastewater treatment.
Range settlement, air flotation.
Performance criteria
3.1 The process tests are described for each primary treatment option.
Range may include but is not limited to
– suspended solids tests, fat and grease tests, Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD) tests; evidence is required for two process tests for each treatment option.

Please note
Providers must be accredited by NZQA, or an inter-institutional body with delegated authority for quality assurance, before they can report credits from assessment against unit standards or deliver courses of study leading to that assessment.
Industry Training Organisations must be accredited by NZQA before they can register credits from assessment against unit standards.
Accredited providers and Industry Training Organisations assessing against unit standards must engage with the moderation system that applies to those standards.
Accreditation requirements and an outline of the moderation system that applies to this standard are outlined in the Accreditation and Moderation Action Plan (AMAP). The
AMAP also includes useful information about special requirements for organisations wishing to develop education and training programmes, such as minimum qualifications for tutors and assessors, and special resource requirements.
