Vinyl films commonly used in signmaking, for the purposes of this unit standard, refers to
films such as opaque (short term, intermediate, high performance), translucent, reflectives,
polyesters, blockouts, anti graffiti, digital printing, banner, sandblasting, and low tac.

Application of vinyl films to flat and/or simple curved surfaces is described in
terms of purposes, methods, and tools and materials used, and includes any
special considerations.
Range
methods include but are not limited to – wet method, dry methods
including hinge method;
examples of tools and materials include but are not limited to –
scrapers and squeegees, rollers, rivet brushes, heating tools,
application liquids, edge sealers.

Describe applying vinyl films to more complex and/or textured surfaces.

3.1
Application of vinyl films to more complex and/or textured surfaces is described
in terms of purposes, methods, and tools and materials used, and includes any
special considerations.
Range

are not limited to – masonry, ribbed truck sides;
methods include but are not limited to – use of heat, rivet brushes.
