Explanatory notes
1 Performance in relation to the outcomes and evidence requirements must comply with current legislation, policies and procedures, including:
Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992;

Public Records Act 2005; and all subsequent amendments and replacements;

It is important to note that there is, in most cases, specific legislation relevant to the organisation in which the candidate is employed. This legislation must be included.
2 Definitions
Collation
– organising information so that its relationship to other information is clear and it can be easily retrieved.
Information – facts that are known or could be discovered from any source.
Examples may include – written or oral reports or documents; description of an event or an activity; unevaluated material of every description, at all levels of reliability, and from any sources from which intelligence can be developed.
Intelligence
– the functions, activities, people or organisations that are involved in the process of planning, gathering and analysing information that leads to the production of intelligence products, which are of potential value to decision makers.

Organisational requirements – instructions to staff on policies, procedures, and methodologies which are documented and are available in the workplace. They must be consistent with applicable legislation and any other applicable compliance requirements.
3 Range
All activities and evidence presented for outcomes and evidence requirements in this unit standard must be in accordance with organisational requirements.
Outcome 1
Collate information to generate collation products for intelligence analysis.
Evidence requirements
1.1 Collate information using collation components.
Range a minimum of 20 pieces of information is required; collation components may include but are not limited to – data preparation, recording, registering, logging, referencing, sorting, filing, display/present.
1.2 Apply collation tools to generate collation products from information.
Range a minimum of three collation tools is required; collation tools may include but are not limited to – charts, spreadsheets, matrices, link diagrams, map marking, mind maps, typologies.
Outcome 2
Evaluate collation products.
Evidence requirements
2.1 Evaluate the effectiveness of the collation.
2.2

Evaluate the effectiveness of tools used to generate the collation products.
Evaluate the effectiveness of the collation products in meeting end user requirements.
