Explanatory notes 1. Definitions Enterprise means an organisation where training and/or assessment is taking place, and/or where the trainee is employed. Enterprise procedure is defined as actions which comply with the policies, systems, and directives in a particular enterprise. Enterprise procedure must comply with the requirements of the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992, and subsequent amendments. Mould gear is components of the blank side and mould side. Blank side components are plunger, thimble, neck ring, blank mould, funnel, baffle. Mould side components are blow mould, mould bottom plate, distributor (vertiflow) plate, blow head, take out grips. Ancillary equipment is baffle arms, funnel arms, neck ring arms, blow head arms, take out arms, hinges, delivery gear, cooling stack nozzles, plunger spacers, loading screws. Routine product faults are critical, certain failure, major, minor. 2. For the purposes of assessment, trainees must demonstrate competency on all production lines. Evidence requirements 1.1 Hazard identification is undertaken in accordance with enterprise procedures. 1.2 Job safety analysis is undertaken in accordance with enterprise procedures. Outcome 2 Perform process operations on glass container forming equipment. Evidence requirements 2.1 Forming operations are performed to maintain continuity in accordance with enterprise procedures. Range 2.2 Common forming faults are identified and corrected in accordance with enterprise procedures and industry practice. Range 2.3 forming operations – swabbing, product weight control, machine lubrication. common forming faults – checks, appearance, gauging. Routine product faults are identified and reported in accordance with enterprise procedures. Outcome 3 Exchange mould gear components. Evidence requirements 3.1 Mould gear to be exchanged is checked to ensure it is correct for the job and available in accordance with enterprise procedures. 3.2 Machine section is stopped in preparation for exchange of mould gear components in accordance with enterprise procedures. 3.3 Mould gear components are exchanged in accordance with enterprise procedures. 3.4 Machine section is restarted and container quality is verified in accordance with enterprise procedures. Evidence requirements 4.1 Process alarms are identified, and actions are taken in response to alarms and in accordance with enterprise procedures. Range evidence is required for at least six process alarms. 4.2 Product information computer data is monitored and interpreted, and required action is taken in accordance with enterprise procedures. 4.3 Production recording is carried out in accordance with enterprise procedures.
