Classification Furniture > Furniture Making Available grade Achieved Explanatory notes 1 This unit standard must be assessed against on-job. 2 Range Complex cutting lists and materials quantities must cover three separate modules making up one furniture unit. 3 Definition Worksite policies and procedures refer to documented policies and to documented or other directions provided to staff. These may include, but are not limited to, ways of managing health and safety, environmental considerations, quality, and production, and must conform to legislation. Examples include standard operating procedures, company health and safety plans, on-site briefings, and supervisor’s instructions. Outcomes and evidence requirements Outcome 1 Produce complex cutting lists. Evidence requirements 1.1 Job specifications are obtained and recorded in accordance with worksite policies and procedures. Range 1.2 job specifications may include – site drawings, architectural drawings with measurements, purpose, types of materials, construction and design detail. Cutting lists are constructed using an in-house format in accordance with worksite policies and procedures. Range type, quantities, dimensions, materials, hardware, accessories. 1.4 Cutting lists are checked to ensure correctness in accordance with job specifications. 1.5 Cutting lists specify job details in accordance with worksite policies and procedures. Range 1.6 Special requirements for each component are specified in accordance with workplace policies and procedures. Range 1.7 cutting list includes – number of items, component names, component quantities, component dimensions, finish required, job number; may include – client name, rough sizes. may include but is not limited to – rebates, mitres, mouldings, clashing instructions, veneer, installation requirements. Cutting lists optimise the use of raw materials to minimise waste in accordance with worksite policies and procedures. Outcome 2 Calculate material quantities for a furniture unit from complex cutting lists. Evidence requirements 2.1 The minimum amount of material required for the furniture unit in outcome 1 is calculated in accordance with worksite policies and procedures. Range 2.2 any of – lineal metres and dimensions of solid timber, number and optimisation and size of panel products. Hardware required for the furniture unit is calculated in accordance with worksite policies and procedures. Range may include but is not limited to – edging tape, handles, and fittings. 2.3 Materials quantities lists are checked against cutting lists. 2.4 Cutting lists are stored in accordance with worksite policies and procedures.
