People credited with this unit standard are able to describe: the composition and purpose of timber flooring products; the manufacturing process of timber flooring products; and the installation and performance of timber flooring products. Timber flooring products in this standard are both laminated and solid products. Outcomes and evidence requirements Outcome 1 Describe the composition and purpose of timber flooring products. Evidence requirements 1.1 The description identifies timber flooring products’ components in accordance with manufacturers’ specifications. Range includes but is not limited to – tiles, sheet. Evidence requirements 2.1 The description outlines two different manufacturing processes in accordance with manufacturers’ specifications and workplace procedures. 2.2 The description outlines two different types of finishing processes in accordance with manufacturers’ specifications. Outcome 3 Describe the installation and performance of timber flooring products. Range timber flooring products include but are not limited to – parquetry, plank. Evidence requirements 3.1 The description includes an outline of installation in accordance with manufacturers’ specifications. Range 3.2 may include but is not limited to – installation time, method(s), surface preparation; one installation method is required. The description includes an outline of performance characteristics in accordance with manufacturers’ specifications.
