People credited with this unit standard are able to demonstrate knowledge of: confirming details for resin floor systems; selecting resin floor systems care and maintenance product(s); and giving advice on product use and maintenance for resin floor systems. Classification Construction Trades > Flooring Available grade Achieved Explanatory notes 1 Performance of the outcomes of this unit standard must comply with the following legislation and guides: the Building Act 2004; Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992; A Guide to the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992, 2nd edition (Department of Labour, 2003) available at http://www.osh.dol.govt.nz; and their subsequent amendments. 2 Definition Workplace procedures are all authorised instructions, processes and work practices carried out in the workshop, factory, shop and worksite. 3 Range Resin floor systems include vertical and horizontal surfaces, both interior and exterior, covering high build coatings, self smoothing coatings, textured flooring, trowelled screeds, and laminates; evidence is required of one of each of the systems outlined above. Evidence requirements 1.1 The process for confirming details for a resin floor system is identified and described in accordance with workplace procedures. Range 1.2 details may include but are not limited to – date of purchase, brand name of resin floor system, manufacturer’s specifications. The process for entering details of the resin floor system into a customer information sheet is identified and described in accordance with workplace procedures. Outcome 2 Demonstrate knowledge of selecting resin floor systems care and maintenance product(s). Evidence requirements 2.1 The process for selecting product(s) that meet the requirements for the resin floor system are identified and described in accordance with manufacturers’ specifications and workplace procedures. Range workplace procedures include but are not limited to – sell by date, stock rotation. Outcome 3 Demonstrate knowledge of giving advice on product use and maintenance for resin floor systems. Evidence requirements 3.1 The process for giving advice to customers is identified and described in accordance with workplace procedures.
