Elements and performance criteria
Element 1
Prepare to operate a post driver.
Performance criteria
1.1
Tractor and equipment are checked for suitability for the job, and maintained in
accordance with manufacturer’s instructions.
Range
tractor brakes, tractor swingarms, hydraulic hoses, bolts, pins,
hydraulics rams, wire rope, beam lubrication.
Element 2
Operate a post driver.
Performance criteria
2.1
Tractor and machinery are positioned to enable the post to be driven, in
accordance with manufacturer’s instructions.
2.2
Posts are checked prior to use for soundness and suitability for the job, and
damaged posts are identified and replaced.
2.3
Posts are driven according to specifications, and in accordance with
manufacturer’s instructions.
Range
specifications – end use, height, land contour;
posts are parallel to beam, top posts are square, post driver sits
on ground, post fits into post locator, posts are plumb while driven.
2.4
Post are driven to ensure post strength, and ground conditions match weight
impact required.
2.5
Posts damaged when driving are identified and replaced.
2.6
Finished position of post matches plan specifications.
2.7
Equipment is positioned in a safe manner for parking and transport.
