Elements and performance criteria
Element 1
Install poles for yards.
Performance criteria
1.1
Pole positions are marked out in accordance with the yard plan.
Range
one of – peg, paint.
1.2
Poles are laid out in accordance with the planned sequence of installation and
without risk of injury to self or other people.
1.3
A hole for the pole is opened manually, at a depth consistent with the size of
pole, without risk of injury to self or other people.
Range
one of – bore, dig.
1.4
Pole is positioned and braced in the hole in accordance with intended use, and
the yard plan.
1.5
The pole is firmly secured in the hole.
Range
one of – earth compaction, cement.
Element 2
Install and nail rails for yards.
Performance criteria
2.1
Rails are installed in accordance with the plan with consistent spacings
throughout the entire length of the yard.
2.2
Rail joins are on alternate posts where possible, butted neatly or mitred, to
maximise strength.
2.3
Rails are fixed with galvanised nails at each post and joined with nails skewed
in opposing directions as near to edge as is practical.
