Transition Arrangements This qualification has been reviewed and replaced by the New Zealand Certificate in Fellmongery and Leather Processing (Level 4) [Ref: 2492] Last date for entry into the replaced National Certificate is 31 December 2016. Last date for award of the replaced National Certificate is 31 December 2018. It is recommended that candidates currently enrolled in this qualification who will be unable to complete the qualification by the 31 December 2018 transfer to the replacement qualification listed above. This qualification contains an expiring unit standard for which replacement unit standards have now been registered. For the purposes of this qualification, people who have gained credit for the replacement unit standards are exempt from the requirement to gain credit for the expiring unit standard. The compulsory core underpins all the generic functions within the industry. The strands of this qualification recognise that many workers specialise in a specific function or process. The slipe wool grading and pickled pelt grading strands require specialist skills in these areas. The pickled pelt processing strand requires an operator to operate specialist equipment. People who have completed this qualification can continue a career pathway in this sector and may choose to work towards the National Certificate in Fellmongery Processing (Knowledge of Slipe Wool and Pickled Pelt Production) [Ref: 0913].
