Explanatory notes 1 This unit standard is intended for, but not restricted to, workplace assessment. A full list of current legislation and industry codes is available from: Infrastructure Industry Training Organisation PO Box 1245 HAMILTON. 4 The phrase in accordance with industry requirements is implicit in all outcomes and evidence requirements in this unit standard. 5 Definitions Industry requirements include all asset owner requirements; manufacturers’ specifications; and enterprise requirements which cover the documented workplace policies, procedures, specifications, business, and quality management requirements relevant to the workplace in which assessment is carried out. Asset owner refers to the owner of an electricity supply network that takes its point of supply from Transpower NZ, and delivers electricity to industrial, commercial and residential customers. Asset owner standards are the approved documented work site methods for carrying out work on an electrical supply network to the standard required by the asset owner. 6 Assessment of practical skills against the outcomes in this standard requires three practical observations from three different workplace activities. Outcomes and evidence requirements Outcome1 Interpret the job pack specifications for installing pad and structure mounted electrical equipment. Evidence requirements 1.1 Pad or structure arrangement is established. Range 1.2 Installation method is established. Range 1.3 levels, equipment support, intermediate, termination. may include but is not limited to – crane, helicopter, manual winch; evidence of one is required. Underground and overhead services are checked and located. Range gas, power, sewer, telecommunication, water, power. Outcome 2 Install pad mounted electrical equipment. Evidence requirements 2.1 Electrical equipment is installed. Range includes but is not limited to – depth of pad, earthing to industry standards, pre commissioning tests. Outcome 3 Install structure mounted electrical equipment. Range may include but is not limited to –high voltage (HV) air brake switches, auto recloser, capacitors, reactors, knife switches, gas switches; evidence of two is required. Evidence requirements 3.1 Hardware is selected to match scope of work determined by asset owner. 3.2 Hardware and equipment are installed to match scope of work determined by asset owner. 3.3 Earthing to meet the requirements of NZECP 35. Outcome 4 Report on pad mounted electrical equipment installation work. Range may include but is not limited to – electric line history, test reports, service report, work report, as built, pre- and post-commissioning test report; evidence of one is required. Evidence requirements 4.1 Reported information is complete, concise, and legible to conform to asset owner’s requirements. 4.2 Information is recorded in the required format and filed within the scheduled time-frame.
