The safe operation of a gas suit is described in terms of the physiological requirements of the user and the type of environment for which they are designed.
1.2 Construction features and functions of a gas suit are described in terms of fully encapsulated and non-encapsulated.
Outcome 2
Put a gas suit on.
Evidence requirements
2.1 A gas suit is put on in accordance with the manufacturer’s specifications.
2.2 A gas suit is put on another person to ready them for emergency duties in accordance with the manufacturer’s specifications.
Outcome 3
Demonstrate safe use and operation of a gas suit.
Evidence requirements
3.1 Safety procedures for wearing and operating a gas suit are demonstrated in accordance with manufacturer’s specifications and organisational requirements.
Range working alone, working in a team, wearing during decontamination.
3.2 A gas suit is worn and operated during work in simulated IDLH atmospheres in accordance with organisational requirements.

Outcome 4 atmospheres tasks
– illuminated open spaces, illuminated cold stores;
– a minimum of one routine and one emergency task.
Visually test and recommission a gas suit.

4.1 The gas suit is visually tested and recommissioned in accordance with manufacturer’s specifications and organisational requirements.
