Range: one of – height, diameter. performance criteria 1.1 Welder is isolated and locked out in accordance with worksite procedures. 1.2 Welder changeover is explained in terms of potential safety hazards in accordance with worksite procedures. 1.3 Tools and fittings for welder changeover are identified and selected in accordance with worksite procedure. 1.4 Preparation of welder for changeover is performed in accordance with worksite procedures. Range: one of – height, diameter. performance criteria 2.1 Welder changeover is explained in terms of purpose and method of operation, and key points to ensure correct operation for each key step. 2.2 Welder changeover is performed in accordance with worksite procedures. Range: welder changeover adjustments may include but are not limited to – magazine adjustments, dog chain change and or adjustment, feeder adjustment and synchronisation, waiting angle, welding calibration tool, production and wire speeds, body roll, guidance cage, monitor reprogramming, wire width. Evidence of seven changeover adjustments is required. element 3 Test run and monitor an automated tinplate seam welder. performance criteria 3.1 Raw materials, welder operation, and product are explained in terms of common problems and corrective actions in accordance with worksite procedures. Range: 3.2 common problems to include – unwelded bodies, bodies welded together, stepped bodies, weld splatter, incorrect body roll, misfeeding, malformed cylinders. Evidence of six common problems is required. Welder is test run and monitored in accordance with worksite procedures. Range: 3.4 welder checks to include – body roll, tin deposit, weld integrity, weld overlap, weld tear, roll down (weld reversal), weld monitor, lacquer strip test, wire gap, can shape, current setting. Outfeed conveyor and turnover belts are set to can size in accordance with worksite procedures. element 4 Perform quality control checks on product from an automated tinplate seam welder. Range: quality control checks to include – weld integrity, weld tear, roll down (weld reversal), lacquer strip, overlap, current setting. performance criteria 4.1 Quality control checks are performed and recorded in accordance with worksite procedures. 4.2 Quality control check results are explained in terms of relationships between welder settings, product specification tolerances, and variance trends.
