purpose:
This unit standard covers the setting of mechanically
automated slitters used for slitting sheets of tinplate up to
1000 mm x 1000 mm x 0.4 mm in size, fed automatically
from a magazine, into strips or blanks with cutting speeds up
to 1.6 m/s and capacities up to 60 sheets per minute.
People credited with this unit standard are able to: prepare a
slitter for setting of plate size; set a slitter for plate size; test
run a slitter; and perform quality control checks on product
from a mechanically automated slitter.

Definitions

procedures for the handling and disposal of materials
and waste.

All work practices must meet recognised codes of
practice and documented worksite safety procedures
(where these exceed the code) for personal, product,
and worksite safety, and must meet the obligations
required under current legislation.

Slitter adjustments are made until slitter operates in accordance with worksite
procedures.

procedures.

Quality control check results are explained in terms of relationships with slitter
settings, product specification tolerances, and variance trends.
