This qualification has been reviewed and replaced by the New Zealand Diploma in
Agribusiness Management (Level 5) [Ref: 2221].
Version 4 of this qualification has been republished to extend the last date of enrolment
from 31 December 2015 to 31 December 2016.
The last date for entry into programmes leading to the replaced qualification is 31
December 2016. However, it is recommended that all new candidates be enrolled in the
new qualification.

Purpose
This qualification is for people who have, or wish to undertake, a role associated with the
management of resources in an agribusiness. People may already have significant
industry experience prior to entry and may therefore be credited with a proportion of this
qualification.
The qualification recognises the skills and knowledge required to: manage risk; describe
land ownership, tenure, succession planning, and forms of agribusiness ownership;
describe the effects of market forces on an agri-industry; describe physical resources;
develop production management action plans; and manage human resources.
All standards in the qualification are compulsory because the resource management
aspect of agribusiness management contains a set of well-defined skills and knowledge
that apply across all types of agribusinesses.
This qualification builds on the knowledge and skills recognised by the National Certificate
in Agriculture (Level 4) with strands in Arable Farming, Cattle Farming, Dairy Farming,
Deer Farming, and Sheep Farming [Ref: 0986], and the National Certificate in Agriculture
(Production Management) with strands in Arable Farming, Cattle Farming, Dairy Farming,
Deer Farming, and Sheep Farming [Ref: 1188].
On completion of this qualification people can pathway onto other agriculture industry
qualifications such as the National Certificate in Agribusiness Management (Business
Planning and Financial Management) [Ref: 1186], and the National Diploma in
Agribusiness Management [Ref: 0647].
Replacement information
This qualification, along with the National Certificate in Agribusiness Management
(Business Planning and Financial Management) [Ref: 1186], and the National Certificate in
Agriculture (Production Management) with strands in Arable Farming, Cattle Farming,
Dairy Farming, Deer Farming, and Sheep Farming [Ref: 1188] replaced the National
Certificate in Agribusiness Management with strands in Production Management, Business
Planning, Physical Resource Management, Taxation and Risk Management, Capital
Management, and Financial Planning [Ref: 0500].

Award of NZQF National Qualifications
Credit gained for a standard may be used only once to meet the requirements of this qualification.
Unit standards and achievement standards that are equivalent in outcome are mutually exclusive for the

Reviewed standards that continue to recognise the same overall outcome are registered as new versions

 Standard 11852 was replaced by standard 23543.
 Total credits increased from 60 to 63.
This qualification contains standards that replace earlier standards. For the purposes of
this qualification, people who have gained credit for the expiring standards are exempt
from the requirement to gain credit for the replacement standards – see table below.

People currently enrolled in programmes leading to the award of an earlier version of this
qualification may either complete that version or transfer to this version. People currently
enrolled in programmes leading to the award of versions 1 and 2 of the qualification may
only complete those versions if they have been awarded expired standard 11852.
From 1 January 2009, all programmes will lead to the new version of the qualification.
The Agriculture Industry Training Organisation anticipates that no existing candidate is
disadvantaged by the introduction of the new version of the qualification. For further

Previous versions of the qualification
Version 2 was issued to update the exemptions table.
Version 1 of this qualification, along with the National Certificate in Agribusiness
Management (Business Planning and Financial Management) [Ref: 1186], and the
National Certificate in Agriculture (Production Management) with strands in Arable
Farming, Cattle Farming, Dairy Farming, Deer Farming, and Sheep Farming [Ref: 1188]
replaced the National Certificate in Agribusiness Management with strands in Production
Management, Business Planning, Physical Resource Management, Taxation and Risk
Management, Capital Management, and Financial Planning [Ref: 0500].
Standards from strands in the replaced qualification moved to this new national certificate
as outlined in the table below. Standards in bold indicate transferable credits and/or
