People credited with this unit standard are able to demonstrate knowledge of aseptic sampling techniques, and take an aseptic sample relevant to the individual’s work area, in a dairy processing operation. These requirements include but are not limited to – site specific requirements, company quality management requirements. Outcomes and evidence requirements Outcome 1 Demonstrate knowledge of aseptic sampling techniques in a dairy processing operation. Evidence requirements 1.1 The importance of aseptic sampling is identified and described in terms of the consequences of sample contamination. 1.2 Sources of possible sample contamination are identified and described in terms of their effect on the sample. Outcome 2 Take aseptic samples relevant to the individual’s work area in a dairy processing operation. Evidence requirements 2.1 The procedure for taking, labelling and storing aseptic samples is followed in accordance with organisational requirements. 2.2 Any contaminated samples or samples showing signs of contamination are identified and reported in accordance with organisational requirements.
