ANNUAL DEGREE PROGRAM ASSESSMENT REPORT
OVERVIEW
The emphasis of the report should be on PLO and CASLO assessment, action items emerging from
those assessments, and a table listing the top three budget requests from each degree program. Bullet
points are certainly acceptable for the sections requiring written responses. Finally, if you respond to the
system data please keep each section (demand, effectiveness and efficiency) to 100 words or fewer.
Refer to the ARPD Instructions when you upload your report elements to the system website. The roman
numerals indicate the corresponding system item number for when you upload your report to the UH
System website.

ANALYSIS TAB
II. Analysis of the Program
1. Briefly respond in 100 words or less for each cautionary and/or unhealthy Quantitative
Indicator:
a. Demand Indicator:
Unhealthy because the number of total majors are 137 with only 31 available county
jobs, but the number of graduates in May 2015 were 22.
b. Efficiency Indicator:
Cautionary because one faculty and 137 majors.
1
c. Effectiveness Indicator:
Overall enrollment at the college decreased, which could include Business Technology
majors.
2. Any new significant program actions (new certificates, stopout, gain or loss of positions) as
results of last year’s action plan.
3. If relevant, share a brief analysis for any Perkins Core Indicator not met.
Technical Skills Attainment - The high number of withdraws could indicate that students are
exploring the major and realizing it’s not meeting their expectations
Student Placement – With the economy improvement, students may have increased their hours
at their current job and may not be captured in the data. To gain more information about the
students’ work and school load, I will be looking to survey students at the beginning of the
semester.
Nontraditional Participation/Completion – Most of the job available for Business Technology
graduates are office administration positions which are traditionally filled by females.
III. Action Plan
1. Action Plan
a. PLO

Describe CASLO assessment findings and resulting action plans. Go to Laulima UHMC CASLO
Assessment for your program’s “Assessment results” and summarize below.
CASLO assessment findings
The way the assessments were delivered,
multiple choice and online, could be
improved. Although the course was taught
in the classroom, the tests were
administered via McGraw-Hill’s online
learning management system, Connect, and
the questions were all multiple choice.
It was not known if the instructor of the
class collected the worksheets students
used to calculate the answers. It was
further discussed that multiple choice
questions don’t show a true, well-rounded
view of students’ quantitative reasoning
skills. Requiring students to show their
work to determine the answers, can show if
students are on the right track solving the
problems.
4
Action plan to address findings
Will be asking the instructor to require that
students submit their scratch paper which they
completed their work on to determine if the
students need more assistance in learning the
material.
