This unit standard involves written Vagahau Niue; Context refers to communicative situations, topics and settings appropriate to written Niue; Basic refers to simple sentences, simple compound sentences and limited vocabulary; Predictable refers to topics and settings that are within the learner’s likely personal experience. 2 Evidence required for outcome one is a message of a minimum length of 50 words, in Vagahau Niue. Examples of messages could be written directions or instructions, making plans to meet, responding to an invitation, explaining one’s absence. 3 Evidence required for outcome two is the completion of one given form in a minimum of 30 words, in Vagahau Niue. The form should require both personal details and other factual information. Examples could be an application form, or a report notifying the loss of an item. 4 Endorsement of village language variation may be conducted by pulotu, village or community appointed experts. 5 Achievement of the evidence requirements allows for minor errors in grammar, vocabulary and spelling, and translation of English expression.
