Job Title Line Manager Direct Reports Location Job Purpose Regional Support Executive Head of Branch Strategy No direct reports Wimbledon To support the Head of Branch Strategy and London to work with London branches and strategic plans. The role will be combination of varied administrative, project and coordination duties to support delivery within the department. Nature and scope CIPD is the professional body for those involved in people management and development. CIPD is incorporated by Royal Charter and is a registered charity. CIPD currently has many branches and groups (geographical and special interest groups) throughout the UK and Ireland that are run by volunteer branch officers and committee members. Branches provide a key channel for member and potential member engagement at a local or country level. They support members by informing them about our latest research and other CIPD services. They also support members with their career development, and often develop and maintain good relations with local centres offering CIPD programmes. An essential component of their work is to provide low-cost CPD by hosting local events and activities which enable local practitioners to network and learn from each other. Our branches act as advocates for the CIPD locally in support of our National and International member objectives. Branches also have a constitutional role. Each branch has a number of constitutional and none constitutional roles that enable the branch to fulfil its corporate and local responsibilities in support of members and potential members. The branch also elects a representative to Council, the Institute’s advisory body. Additionally, Council elects the members of the Board (except honorary officers elected at AGM). The Board is the primary governance body of the Institute and exercises all but a few powers reserved to Council. This role’s responsibilities are wide ranging and varied, acting as a key support to our Regional Head of London and on an ongoing review of our branch activity and structure to ensure that they are fit for purpose to the future. The role is an excellent opportunity to be exposed to a sizable change programme and have exposure to a number of senior stakeholders whilst also helping ensure that we remain on track and making progress against objectives. It is an excellent opportunity to improve and prove a wide range of skills and enhance commercial understanding. The role requires an unusual mix of administration, thinking and judgment and will require working outside of normal office hours, with occasional work on weekends. Key accountabilities 1. Support the Head by delivering communications and logistics across the region to ensure things run smoothly, managing conflicting priorities to ensure effective and on time delivery. 2. Managing logistics for Council and AGM in conjunction with Secretariat team 3. Administer project plans, budgets and carry out basic reviews of data to look for opportunities to improve delivery and outcomes for the area 4. Prepare documentation and papers for meetings 5. A good level of IT skills is essential, particularly Word/Excel/PowerPoint and previous experience of workplace databases would be desirable Able to understand and manage web-based solutions within the role Good organisational and planning skills are also required Clear and confident communicator, both in the spoken and written word as there is a need for the post holder to communicate and negotiate with staff, suppliers, volunteers at all levels The role is based at CIPD’s headquarters in Wimbledon. The role may require some travel throughout the UK, usually to attend meetings held outside office hours in support of volunteer activities or when hosting meetings externally.
