Job Purpose Lead the annual business planning process to ensure the understanding and alignment of activity across the organisation to delivery of CIPD strategy.
Key accountabilities
1.
Manage, refine and further embed the production, and annual delivery, of a coherent business planning process across the organisation, which aligns all employees’ activities to delivery of the strategy.
2.
Run the Business Planning and Alignment team to ensure that department plans are completed, working with the Performance Analyst to embed measures, and monitor performance against plan.
3.
Ensure that the operational business plans, along with the programmes and projects, combine to deliver the CIPD strategy.
4.
Support and continually improve planning processes across CIPD through the provision of tools, templates and the coaching of managers.
5.
Develop and manage a reporting and monitoring process that tracks progress towards achievement of business plans in a streamlined manner, meets the needs of the Executive Team and enables the organisation to respond to results in a timely manner.
6.
Input to the strategic resource plan including workforce plan in light of Directorate planning requirements.

Knowledge, qualifications and experience
The job holder will be educated to at least degree level or equivalent and possibly also possess a relevant post graduate or professional qualification.
They will be experienced in business planning and project management with a track record of successful strategic business planning and experience of developing and implementing business planning processes and tools. This experience will have been gained in an environment where there are cross functional teams.
They will have demonstrable experience of being able to think strategically and to contribute, challenge, influence and present at a high level.
The job holder will be very adept at building relationships at all levels (including senior levels) and communicating clearly both orally and in writing. They will be excellent collaborators and possess good analytical skills with the ability to interpret and summarise information clearly.
