course will provide students in any multimedia
discipline a basic working knowledge of lighting
for motion picture. The course will also provide
the Multimedia Arts Program a feeder course for
our full-fledged video production courses and as
a model for future short-term and weekendoffered courses. The course is expected to
generally be offered in a short term, six-week
format.

Biomanufacturing Certificate of Achievement
The biomanufacturing program is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary for
employment in the biomanufacturing/pharmaceutical industry. Students study basic biotechnology and
biomanufacturing skills in one semester, earning them a Certificate of Proficiency in Biomanufacturing Skills. Students
may then continue their academic training by taking additional courses to earn a Certificate of Achievement in
Biomanufacturing gaining the skills and knowledge necessary for a higher level of employment within the
manufacturing sector of the pharmaceutical industry.

Formerly Biosc 48NC. The Human Genetics and
Genomics I courses offer the students the unique
opportunity of publishing their research in a peerreviewed scientific journal. This course is
designed to take the student through the process,
from the actual writing of the paper to editing and
reviewing other?s work. This class is directed
toward the complex world of scientific writing.
Editing, the peer-review process, and
interpretation of reviews prepare the student to
write a scientific manuscript.

biotechnology. This course will be part of the
required certification program for the genomics
field. As demonstrated by the biotech surveys
results sent to industry by the College of
Alameda, it is clear that employers within the
Genomics industry demand that students have
mastery-level skills in micro-robotics as used in
shot-gun sequencing.
