Introductions 2. Project Overview The Peralta Community College District (PCCD) will adjust its Trustee districts to comply with federal and state requirements for compact, contiguous districts of near equal population using 2010 Census data. 3. Project Requirements for PCCD redistricting: New districts must: meet legal requirements for near-equal population, compactness and contiguity comply with U.S. Voting Rights Act take into account preserving “communities of interest” Satisfy Open Meeting requirements for openness, public transparency and public involvement Meet Alameda County Registrar of Voter requirements and timelines 4. Deliverables Four draft alternatives using Census 2010 data Four public meetings to discuss drafts and take inputs Develop up to two new alternatives that incorporate public input, as appropriate Provide final plan, with supporting data to Board for public hearing, consideration and adoption Deliver approved plan to Alameda County Registrar of Voters and support incorporation into the Registrar’s overall redistricting effort 5.
