Purpose
People credited with this unit standard are able to respond to
an aircraft emergency and an emergency in an airport building.

Explanatory notes
1
Definitions
Aerodrome means any defined area of land or water intended or designed to be used
either wholly or partly for the landing, departure, and surface movement of aircraft;
and includes any building, installations, and equipment on or adjacent to any such
area used in connection with the aerodrome or its administration;
The term airport refers to aerodrome as per Civil Aviation Rules.

Reference to enterprise procedures means that all activities must comply with the
requirements contained in the current airport exposition, current airport company
manuals and procedures, and any relevant legislative and/or regulatory
requirements, which may include but are not limited to: Civil Aviation Act 1990,
relevant Civil Aviation Rules, New Zealand Defence Force (NZDF) Policy, and the
Fire Safety and Evacuation of Buildings Regulations 2006.

This unit standard may be assessed against in an aviation workplace when
appropriate situations arise, or in a training environment if simulated workplace
conditions are able to be provided that reflect the standards of an aviation workplace.
Outcomes and evidence requirements
Outcome 1
Respond to an aircraft emergency.
Range
emergencies may include but are not limited to – crash on the airfield, crash off
the airfield, full emergency, local stand-by, aircraft security incident, unlawful
interference;
evidence of three is required.
Evidence requirements
1.1
Response to an aircraft emergency conforms to Aerodrome Emergency Plan.

Emergency responses are logged in accordance with enterprise procedures.
Outcome 2
Respond to an emergency in an airport building.
Range
emergencies may include but are not limited to – fire, bomb threat (including
unattended baggage), terrorist, civil emergency;
evidence of two is required.
Evidence requirements
2.1
Response to an emergency in an airport building conforms to evacuation plan
based on Fire Safety and Evacuation of Buildings Regulations.
2.2
Response to an emergency in an airport building conforms to Aerodrome
Emergency Plan.
