Memo To: José Ortiz, Ed.D. Chancellor From: Planning and Budgeting Council Date: March 22, 2013 Re: Review of Board Policies and Administrative Procedures At its March 22, 2013 meeting, the Planning and Budgeting Council reviewed and supported the following Board Policy and Administrative Procedures and in some instances recommended revisions: BP 7370 Political Activity (revised): Please see the attached PBC suggested revision to this BP. This makes changes to the revision presented to the Chancellor’s Cabinet. AP 4106 Nursing Programs (revised): This is an existing administrative procedure which has been updated/ revised by the Director of the Merritt Nursing Program and was approved by the District Academic Senate (see attachment). AP 4231 Grade Changes and Student Grievance Procedure (revised): This is an existing administrative procedure. The changes are on the first page of the administrative procedure and are highlighted in yellow in the attached copy. The major change is to reduce the number of years from four to two in which a student may challenge a grade. This was approved by the District Academic Senate (see attachment). AP 5011 Admission-Concurrent Enrollment of High School and Other Students (revised): This is an existing administrative procedure. When this procedure was posted, district A&R staff determined there were edits that needed to be made (i.e., distinguishing between A&R at the colleges and the district; consistently stating that high schools students are those in 10th, 11th, or 12th grades) (see attachment). AP 5075 Course Adds and Drops (revised): This is an existing administrative procedure. When this procedure was posted, district A&R noted that a few clarifications needed to be made (see attachment). AP 6350 Contracts – Construction: The PBC recommends the addition of a sentence to this procedure (highlighted in yellow in the attached procedure) and the removal of a word in the final paragraph (also highlighted) AP 7123 Hiring Procedures for Regular Academic Administrators and Classified Managers (revised): The PBC accepted editing the term “Human Resources” to “Human Resources and Employee Relations” throughout the document. The PBC also approved having Community Forums for College Vice President finalists. However, the PBC determined that there should also be Community Forums for District Vice Chancellors and that is added in the attachment. LS/JB
