Purpose
People credited with this unit standard are able to discuss:
Māori human development theory in relation to the health and
well-being of koroua and kuia; the relationship of koroua and
kuia to whenua; the significance of te ao tūroa for kaumātua
koroua and kuia; and the impact of te ao hurihuri on the
physical, intellectual and spiritual well-being of koroua and kuia
in relation to kaumātuatanga.

koroua and kuia.
Evidence requirements
1.1
The health and well-being of koroua and kuia are discussed in relation to their
wairua, tinana, hinengaro, whatumanawa, and ngā kare-ā-roto.
1.2
The health and well-being of koroua and kuia is discussed in relation to their
mokopuna, whānau, and whakapapa.
Outcome 2
Discuss the relationship of koroua and kuia to whenua.
Evidence requirements
2.1
The relationship of koroua and kuia to whenua is discussed in relation to
tūrangawaewae, iwi, ukaipō and Aotearoa.
