Outcomes and evidence requirements Outcome 1 Demonstrate knowledge of alternative approaches to the development of legislation on the basis of differing cultural beliefs or values. Range evidence of two approaches required. Evidence requirements 1.1 The demonstration describes the differences in representation of different ethnic or cultural groups. Range may include the parliamentary system, the judicial system. Range approaches may include those of select committees, the legislative process, the parliamentary system. Outcome 2 Demonstrate knowledge of alternative approaches to the operation of different court systems. Range evidence of two court systems required. Evidence requirements 2.1 The demonstration explains the effect of differing values and cultural beliefs in alternative court systems. 2.2 The demonstration describes the role and participation of minorities in alternative court systems. 2.3 The demonstration describes the operation of marae based courts. Outcome 3 Demonstrate knowledge of alternative penal or correctional systems. Range evidence of two systems required. Evidence requirements 3.1 The demonstration describes the effect of different systems on the re-offending rates of inmates. 3.2 The demonstration identifies the outcomes of different systems for different ethnic groups.
