NZQA registered unit standard 18357 version 3 Page 1 of 4 Title Develop, implement, and evaluate a substance abuse awareness programme for oranga rangatahi Level 3 Credits 3 Purpose People credited with this unit standard are able to: prepare a substance abuse awareness programme specifically for rangatahi within the context of oranga; compile a directory of local key support people and organisations who provide support services for rangatahi; identify the addictive ingredients within substances that are commonly abused by rangatahi; implement a substance abuse awareness programme for rangatahi; and develop a rangatahi survey to evaluate the substance abuse awareness programme. Where local rohe are also occupied by Māori with other iwi or hapū affiliations, the tangata whenua or mana whenua view takes precedence. Outcome 2 Compile a directory of local key support people and organisations who provide support services for rangatahi. Evidence requirements 2.1 Directory provides list of local support services who work with youth. 2.2 Local substance abuse support services are listed. Range 2.3 alphabetical listing, category, culture. Directory is written in language common to rangatahi. Outcome 3 Identify the addictive ingredients within substances that are commonly abused by rangatahi. Evidence requirements 3.1 Commonly abused substances are identified and graphically displayed. Range one of – wall chart(s), overhead projector presentation, pictorial collage. 3.2 Addictive ingredients within each substance are listed. 3.3 The source of substances abused by rangatahi are identified. 3.4 Programme identifies the effects of substance abuse. Outcome 4 Implement a substance abuse awareness programme for rangatahi. Outcome 5 Develop a rangatahi survey to evaluate the substance abuse awareness programme. Evidence requirements 5.1 Evaluation questionnaire is written in language commonly used by rangatahi. 5.2 Questionnaire is endorsed by rangatahi focus group on substance abuse. 5.3 Evaluation questionnaire results in improvement to substance abuse programme.
