Classification Hauora > Tikanga Hauora Available grade Achieved Explanatory notes 1 The context of inquiries is limited to local rohe or takiwā. Where local rohe are also occupied by Māori with other iwi or hapū affiliations, the tangata whenua or mana whenua view takes precedence. However, these alternative perspectives should be encouraged in order to enrich and enhance understanding of key oranga concepts. 2 Descriptions, explanations, and observable actions can be presented in a number of ways that may include but are not limited to – kōrero, titiro, whakarongo, tuhituhi, whakaari, waiata, and haka presentations. 3 Family sized meal for the purpose of this unit standard is two adults and three children. 4 Resources Biggs, B. Range customary kai Māori may include but is not limited to – kai moana, kai ngahere, ngā kai o ngā awa me ngā roto, and introduced kai that are now considered customary. Evidence requirements 1.1 Plan includes the gathering of customary kai Māori according to tikanga. Outcome 2 Prepare a family sized meal of customary kai Māori. Range customary kai Māori may include but is not limited to – kai moana, kai ngahere, ngā kai o ngā awa me ngā roto, and introduced kai that are now considered customary. Evidence requirements 2.1 Kai is prepared according to plan. 2.2 Kai is prepared in accordance with nutritional requirements. 2.3 Kai is prepared within local standards of health practice as determined by kaitohu. 2.4 The disposal of waste is carried out according to kaitohu and local kawa.
