Legislation to be covered under this unit standard includes:
Incorporated Societies Act 1908, Privacy Act 1993, Companies Act 1993, Charitable
Trusts Act 1957, Ngai Tahu Claims Settlement Act 1998, Māori Trust Boards Act
1955, Treaty of Waitangi Act 1975, Māori Trustee Act 1953, Māori Reserved Land
Act 1955, Resource Management Act 1991, Waikato Raupatu Claims Settlement Act
1995, Te Ture Whenua Māori/ Māori Land Act 1993, Historic Places Act 1993, Local
Government Act 1974.

Selected Māori organisations fall into the following categories:
Hapu based organisations;
Custodial trusts, usually established to administer multiply owned Māori land;
Iwi based organisations – that is, Trust Boards, Runanga; Māori urban authorities.

an inter-institutional body with delegated authority for quality assurance, before they can
