Evidence requirements are to be satisfied in the
workplace environment(s) or an equivalent environment
closely resembling a real workplace.

All tasks must be carried out in accordance with
enterprise procedures based on:
a quality management systems;
b designer’s requirements and manufacturer’s
operating instructions; and
c government and local government legislation,
regulations, and bylaws.

Those undertaking assessment against this unit
standard should note that work in the industrial rope
access industry usually takes place at heights well
above ground level, and therefore requires a relevant
level of physical fitness and ability to work at heights.

Legislation relevant to this unit standard includes but is
not limited to the Health and Safety in Employment Act
1992 (HSE) and consequential standards:
 AS/NZS 1891:1995 Industrial fall-arrest systems
and devices
 AS/NZS 4488:1997 Industrial rope access systems.

codes, guidelines, and requirements in the industrial
rope access industry.

Site plans, access systems and/or equipment designs, and drawings are
interpreted in accordance with enterprise procedures.

Job is planned in accordance with HSE requirements, code of practice and
design standards, and required approvals are obtained in accordance with
enterprise procedures.

2.1
Access system and/or equipment components appropriate to task are selected
and confirmed free of damage. Damaged components are labelled and
rejected in accordance with enterprise procedures.
Range:
components include but are not limited to – personal kit, fall arrest
system, fall arrest equipment, proprietary tripods, proprietary
needles, counterweight systems.
2.2
Rejected components are serviced or sent for repair, in accordance with
enterprise procedures.
2.3
Tools are selected and inspected, and faulty tools repaired or sent for repair, in
accordance with enterprise procedures.
