People credited with this unit standard are able to

other than the owner, and demonstrate knowledge of rates
debt recovery for general land using legal proceedings.

Evidence must be consistent with – Local Government
(Rating) Act 2002 sections 61 to 83, and Insolvency Act
1967 or replacement legislation.
Where applicable, evidence must be consistent with –
local authority bylaws, policies and procedures, and
district scheme.

General land refers in this unit standard to all land other
than Māori freehold land.
Persons refers to legal persons.

Notification to persons with an interest in the rating unit is described in
accordance with legislation and in relation to a local authority.
Range:
at least two persons including but not limited to – first mortgagee.

2.1
Jurisdiction of the District Court and methods of commencing proceedings for
rates debt recovery for general land are explained in accordance with
legislation.
2.2
Proceedings in the District Court for rates debt recovery for general land are
explained in accordance with legislation.
2.3
Procedures for filing for bankruptcy in relation to rates debt recovery are
explained in accordance with legislation.
2.4
Provisions for a rating sale or lease are explained in accordance with
legislation.
Range:

Please Note
Providers must be accredited by the Qualifications Authority or a delegated interinstitutional body before they can register credits from assessment against unit standards
or deliver courses of study leading to that assessment.
Industry Training Organisations must be accredited by the Qualifications Authority before
they can register credits from assessment against unit standards.
Accredited providers and Industry Training Organisations assessing against unit standards
must engage with the moderation system that applies to those standards.
