Element 1
Determine significance of pest plant infestation.
Performance criteria
1.1
Size and frequency of pest plant infestation is identified on the property or in the
areas being observed.

1.2
Significance of pest plant infestation is defined in comparison with the scale and
nature of the infestation in other parts of the region and the priority accorded to
the pest plant by the regional council or unitary authority.
Element 2
Plan a pest plant control programme.
Performance criteria
2.1
Programme matches the significance of the pest plant infestation.
2.2
Programme is developed in accordance with the Regional Pest Plant
Management Strategy.
2.3
The plan specifies monitoring programme, and costs for compliance and pest
plant control, and is documented in accordance with the Regional Pest Plant
Management Strategy.
Element 3
Recommend a pest plant control programme.
Performance criteria
3.1
Regional council or unitary authority is advised of preferred pest plant control
programme, supported by a rationale.
3.2
Land owner and/or occupier is advised of the required pest plant control
activities in accordance with the Regional Pest Plant Management Strategy.
3.3
Decision on recommendation is recorded and formatted in accordance with the
Regional Pest Plant Management Strategy.
3.4
Pest plant control programme is revised, where necessary, in accordance with
the changes specified by the regional council or unitary authority.
Please note
Providers must be accredited by NZQA, or an inter-institutional body with delegated
authority for quality assurance, before they can report credits from assessment against
unit standards or deliver courses of study leading to that assessment.
Industry Training Organisations must be accredited by NZQA before they can register
credits from assessment against unit standards.
Accredited providers and Industry Training Organisations assessing against unit standards
must engage with the moderation system that applies to those standards.

Accreditation requirements and an outline of the moderation system that applies to this
standard are outlined in the Accreditation and Moderation Action Plan (AMAP). The
AMAP also includes useful information about special requirements for organisations

tutors and assessors, and special resource requirements.
