Explanatory notes
1
Definitions
Organisation refers to an entire organisation or a business unit within the
organisation.
Organisational requirements refer to policies, procedures and reporting requirements
of the provider and/or client organisation.
Stakeholders refer to the organisation, and may also include managers, supervisors,
and colleagues.

Assessment against this standard is subject to compliance with organisational
requirements.
Outcomes and evidence requirements
Outcome 1
Develop an assessment strategy for an organisation.
Evidence requirements
1.1
Factors to be included in the assessment strategy are identified.
Range
factors may include but are not limited to – resourcing, relevant
legislative requirements, ethical and industrial considerations,
support processes, timeframes, training strategies, models and
principles of assessment, quality assurance procedures.
1.2
Assessment strategy for an organisation is developed to meet internal and
external stakeholders’ requirements.
1.3
Assessment strategy, policy, and procedures are documented in accordance
with organisational requirements.

Criteria for reviewing assessment strategy are established and documented in
accordance with organisational requirements.
Outcome 2
Implement the assessment strategy for the organisation.
Evidence requirements
2.1
Assessment strategy is communicated to relevant stakeholders in the
organisation within agreed timeframes.
2.2
Implementation of the assessment strategy is monitored and documented in
accordance with organisational requirements.
2.3
Any issues in implementation are identified and remedied in accordance with
organisational requirements.
Outcome 3
Review the assessment strategy for the organisation.
Evidence requirements
3.1
Stakeholder feedback on the assessment strategy is sought and analysed in
accordance with review criteria.
3.2
Any areas for improvement are identified and modifications are recommended
based on analysis of feedback obtained.
3.3
Review of strategy is documented in accordance with organisational
requirements.

Please note
Providers must be granted consent to assess against standards (accredited) by NZQA,
before they can report credits from assessment against unit standards or deliver courses
of study leading to that assessment.
Industry Training Organisations must be granted consent to assess against standards by
NZQA before they can register credits from assessment against unit standards.
Providers and Industry Training Organisations, which have been granted consent and
which are assessing against unit standards must engage with the moderation system that
applies to those standards.
Requirements for consent to assess and an outline of the moderation system that applies
to this standard are outlined in the Consent and Moderation Requirements (CMR). The
CMR also includes useful information about special requirements for organisations wishing
to develop education and training programmes, such as minimum qualifications for tutors
and assessors, and special resource requirements.
