People credited with this unit standard are, on an infrastructure
works site, able to: carry out pre-start procedures on a
generator; operate a generator; and follow shutdown
procedures for a generator.

1
Assessment against this unit standard must take place in a workplace environment.
Assessment parameters will be dependent on company and site specific equipment,
procedures, and practices. Practices must reflect industry best practice and comply
with legislative requirements. Assessment against evidence requirement 3.1 may be
carried out in a simulated situation.

Definitions
Fault situation means malfunctions in equipment such as overheating, low oil
pressure and residual current device tripping.
Manufacturer’s instructions may include specifications, safety data sheets, and
instructions for installation, handling, use, and maintenance.
