Strategic purpose statement
This is a standalone qualification for people who are working
across a range of sectors to empower whānau to establish,
promote and sustain a unified approach to build the capability
and capacity of whānau to make decisions for positive
outcomes for the whānau
Graduates of this qualification will use theoretical analysis and
technical communication knowledge and skills to assist whānau
to engage and work collaboratively with government and private
agencies.

Graduates of this qualification will be able to apply the following
knowledge and skills :
Whānaungatanga

Apply effective communication skills to promote manage
and maintain relationships with all stakeholders to ensure a
co-ordinated approach on the provision of whānau- centred
services for Māori.
Te tika me Te Pono

Analyse organisational risk management strategies and
develop a self- management plan to manage risk when
working within familiar and unfamiliar settings.

Implement, a self -management plan and reflect to identify
and minimise risk factors.
Outcome Statement
Pukengatanga

Research government and local agencies systems to
determine an engagement strategy that embraces a
whānau centred approach.

Develop and implement a whānau-centred service provision
engagement plan with a co-ordinated approach between
relevant sectors and stakeholders.

Apply effective communication and administrative skills to
record, report and maintain information.
Kaitiakitanga

Education pathway
Apply reflective practice to evaluate the whānau-centred
service provision engagement plan with whānau in terms of
the plan’s contribution in the development of their social
and economic well-being.
This qualification is a stand-alone qualification that leads into

Holders of this qualification will have the skills and knowledge
required to work in formal and informal roles in the
