Graduates will be responsible for their own performance within their defined environment, and have some responsibility for the management of learning and performance of others. They have a lead role in the drilling workplace. This qualification has been designed to be relevant to all sectors within the drilling industry. It has been made flexible to allow study or training to take place within a variety of drilling environments. Graduates will be qualified in the drilling environment in which they studied or trained. Communicate with clients, internal staff, local bodies and government organisations, and the general public. Contribute to the development of standard operating procedures and other work place documentation. Page 1 of 5 Education pathway This certificate builds on: - New Zealand Certificate in Drilling (Level 3) [Ref: 2621] - New Zealand Certificate in Drilling (Level 4) [Ref: 2622] and prepares graduates to complete further studies in management or related areas. This qualification is intended to allow equivalency with the Certificate IV drilling qualifications within the Australian Resources and Infrastructure Industry Training Package (RII09), ie: - RII41109 Certificate IV in Drilling Oil/Gas (On shore) RII40909 Certificate IV in Drilling Operations RII41009 Certificate IV in Drilling Oil/Gas (Off shore). Depending on the particular programme of study or industry training programme completed by graduates, this qualification may also allow equivalency with the Diploma V drilling qualifications within the Australian Resources and Infrastructure Industry Training Package (RII09), ie: Employment pathway RII50809 Diploma of Drilling Oil/Gas (On shore) RII50609 Diploma of Drilling Operations RII50709 Diploma of Drilling Oil/Gas (Off shore). Holders of this certificate are able to work as a Supervisor or Senior Driller within the drilling environment that their programme of study or industry training programme was completed. Qualification specifications Qualification award This qualification may be awarded by the NZ Motor Industry Training Organisation (Inc) as the qualification developer and the industry training organisation arranging training leading to the qualification under section 5 of the Industry Training and Apprenticeships Act 1992. This qualification may also be awarded by an education organisation accredited under section 250 of the Education Act 1989 to deliver an approved programme leading to this qualification. The formal document certifying the award of this qualification will display the NZQF logo and may also include the name and/or logo of the awarding education organisation. Evidence requirements for assuring consistency TEOs will supply evidence that demonstrates how the graduate outcomes are being met. Evidence should include: - - Qualification Reference 2623 © New Zealand Qualifications Authority 2015 surveys of graduates and employers which determine how well graduates are meeting the graduate outcomes in the workplace reports from consultation with major industry associations to ensure graduates are meeting their Page 2 of 5 - - Credit transfer and recognition of prior learning arrangements member’s needs demonstration of effective processes to identify changes in industry practice and training requirements. For example, meeting minutes from industry advisory groups any other evidence, including workplace evidence, that shows how the graduate outcomes are being met. Education organisations must have policies and procedures in place for managing credit transfer, and assessing recognition of prior learning and recognition of current competency. These policies and procedures, and information about associated fees, must be available to the candidate prior to enrolment. To facilitate credit transfer, education organisations must clearly demonstrate the equivalency or comparability between each of the outcomes in the graduate profile, and the assessment components of their programmes. Minimum standard of achievement and standards for grade endorsements The minimum standard of achievement required for award of the qualification will be the achievement of all graduate outcomes in the graduate profile through successful completion of an NZQA-approved programme. This can be achieved through use of listed New Zealand coversheet unit standards linked to Australian Units of Competency, or through use of equivalent New Zealand assessment standards. Conditions for programme context To achieve the New Zealand Certificate in Drilling (Level 5) graduates will complete programmes of study or industry training programmes that are specific to their drilling environment. Programmes must reflect the specific drilling environment that the trainee is operating in, or intending to operate in. Unit standard 23187 Optional Credits 5 Transition information Replacement information This qualification replaced the National Certificate in Drilling – Nonhydrocarbon (Senior Driller) (Level 4) with an optional strand in Water Well [Ref: 1333], the National Diploma in Drilling – Non-hydrocarbon (Driller Supervisor) (Level 5) [Ref: 1334], the National Certificate in Drilling – Hydrocarbon (Driller) (Level 4) with strands in Off Shore Drilling, and On Shore Drilling [Ref: 1337], and the National Diploma in Drilling – Hydrocarbon (Rig Manager, Tool Pusher) (Level 5) with strands in Off Shore Drilling, and On Shore Drilling [Ref: 1338]. People currently working towards either of the replaced qualifications must complete its requirements, or transfer to a programme of study or training leading to this qualification, by 31 December 2018.
