Strategic purpose statement
The purpose of this qualification is to recognise individuals that
have attained sufficient knowledge and operational skills required
to safely operate as a distribution operator in warehousing,
distribution and supply.
Businesses and communities will benefit from having qualified
people, with relevant skills that contribute to improving
performance and productivity in distribution organisations.
Holders of this qualification will be capable of operating at an
entry level under limited supervision.
Trainees may choose to specialise in mechanised goods
handling on completing the New Zealand Certificate in
Distribution (Level 3) by completing the optional strand in
Mechanised Goods Handling. This strand recognises the
additional specialised skills and knowledge required to use
mechanised goods handling equipment in a distribution
environment.

Graduates of the Mechanised Goods Handling optional strand
will also be able to:

Education pathway
New Zealand Certificate in Distribution (Level 4); related level 4
qualifications in Supply Chain, Port Operations, International
Freight Logistics. [Ref: 2573]
Employment pathway
Operational roles in a wide variety of distribution workplaces, for
example: Storeman, Picker, Packer, Dispatcher,
Admin/operations.
Qualification specifications
Qualification award
This qualification is awarded by the accredited provider. The
formal certification document will include the NZQF logo,
and the logo of the tertiary education organisation offering
the programme of training leading to the award of this
qualification. The ServiceIQ logo may be only be included if
explicitly approved by ServiceIQ.
Evidence requirements for assuring
consistency
All tertiary education organisations (TEOs) either arranging
training or delivering programmes that lead to the award of
the qualification are required to participate in a consistency
review scheduled by NZQA.

qualification who seeks RPL for the entire qualification will
be required to provide a summary of their experience in the
industry and complete an end-point assessment to prove
current competency.

Last date for entry into the replaced national qualifications is 31 December 2016.
Last date for assessment against the replaced national qualifications is 31 December 2018.
It is recommended that candidates currently enrolled in programmes leading to the replaced national
qualifications and unable to complete by 31 December 2018 transfer their existing achievement to this
qualification.
