Learners will benefit by having a qualification which recognises skills and knowledge in resource efficiency practice supporting improved job performance, and a credential to enhance employment opportunities. This qualification is targeted at people working in any capacity within a wide range of organisations. Graduates will be capable of identifying opportunities and participating in planning initiatives for the efficient use of resources within an organisation. Page 1 of 4 Education pathway This qualification may lead to the New Zealand Certificate in Resource Efficiency Management (Level 6) [Ref: 1922] or to the New Zealand Diploma in Resource Efficiency (Level 6) [Ref: 1921]. Employment pathway Graduates may be qualified to work in a range of roles and contexts where they are able to participate in initiatives to improve resource use efficiency by reducing consumption and minimising waste within a diverse range of organisations. Qualification specifications Qualification award This qualification may be awarded by the NZ Motor Industry Training Organisation (Inc) as the qualification developer and the industry training organisation arranging training leading to the qualification under section 5 of the Industry Training Act 1992. This qualification may also be awarded by an education organisation accredited under section 250 of the Education Act 1989 to deliver an approved programme leading to this qualification. The formal document certifying the award of this qualification will display the NZQF logo and may also include the name and/or logo of the awarding education organisation. Evidence requirements for managing consistency Tertiary Education Organisations (TEOs) will supply evidence that demonstrates how the graduate outcomes are being met. Evidence should include: Credit transfer and recognition of prior learning arrangements – surveys of graduates and employers which determine how well graduates are meeting the graduate outcomes in the workplace – any feedback from major industry associations demonstrating how well graduates are meeting their members’ needs – evidence of monitoring to ensure changes in industry practice are identified and incorporated in to training requirements – workplace evidence that shows how the graduate outcomes are being met – any other relevant evidence Education organisations must have policies and procedures in place for managing credit transfer, and assessing recognition of prior learning and recognition of current competency. These policies and procedures, and information about associated fees, must be available to the candidate prior to enrolment. To facilitate credit transfer, education organisations must clearly demonstrate the equivalency or comparability between each of the outcomes in the graduate profile, and the assessment Qualification Reference 1920 © New Zealand Qualifications Authority 2013 Page 2 of 4 components of their programmes. Minimum standard of achievement and standards for grade endorsements The minimum standard of achievement required for award of the qualification will be the achievement of all graduate outcomes in the graduate profile through successful completion of an NZQA approved programme. Resource use includes consideration of waste streams. Areas of resource use include solids, liquids, gases and energy: - Solid resources may include, but are not limited to – paper, soil, raw materials, solid waste streams. - Liquid resources may include, but are not limited to, water. - Gas resources may include, but are not limited to, carbon dioxide emissions. - Energy resources may include, but are not limited to, electricity. People currently working towards the replaced qualification must complete its requirements, or transfer to a programme of study or training leading to this qualification, by 31 December 2015.
