To build a better moonbuggy

Forget the Detroit auto industry.
A team of Cameron University students are designing a vehicle for
places Humvees fear to tread.
Engineering design technology students at Cameron are preparing
to enter NASA's 16th annual Great Moonbuggy Race, April 3-4 in
Huntsville, Ala. The team will face off against around 100 teams
from around the world.
Engineering professor Hermann Gruenwald is helping with the
project, along with faculty sponsor, professor Mark Polson. About
10 students are designing and building a moonbuggy to take part in
the grueling competition, which includes a "moon crater" the buggy
must go through. The vehicle must be manually powered and have
two drivers, a man and a woman.
Cameron students have competed in the event a number of times,
but last year's team wasn't able to make the trip to Alabama.
