Classification Social Science Studies > Legal Studies Available grade Achieved, Merit, and Excellence Criteria for Merit The evaluation of key elements of the systems of government and their formation is developed by including relevant supporting detail such as: discussing the strength(s) and weakness(es) of each of New Zealand’s system and a system from another country. Criteria for Excellence The evaluation of the key elements of systems of government and their formation is fully developed by considering an implication of the strength(s) and weakness(es) of each system, which may include an implication for – future law making, societal development, civic engagement, economic development, environmental development. Explanatory notes 1 Range Systems of government may include but are not limited to – constitutional monarchy, theocracy, federal, dictatorship, absolute monarchy, Islamic republic. 2 This unit standard can be awarded with an Achieved, Merit, or Excellence grade. For the Achieved grade to be awarded, all outcomes must be achieved as specified in the outcome statement(s). New Zealand’s system of government in relation to one other country; key elements may include but are not limited to – voting methods, parliamentary systems, constitutional arrangements, legislative process.
