Classification Design > Design - Graphic Communication Available grade Achieved Explanatory notes 1 This unit standard may be used to award credit for the achievement of learning outcomes consistent with Technology in the New Zealand Curriculum (Learning Media Wellington, 1995). 2 Design sketches and working drawings for engineering devices used in attaining this unit standard need to be product design items consisting of several components, including mechanical features, control mechanisms and structural elements. 3 Drawings must conform to standards convention NZ/AS1100. 4 Brief needs to include design problems for a specified client. 5 Examples of media and equipment which could be used in attaining this unit standard are: graphite and colour pencil, pens and markers, cartridge and tracing paper, drawing equipment, computer aided draughting (CAD) programs. Evidence requirements 4.1 Drawings are checked for accuracy against the brief, standards convention, and site requirements; and any needed corrections are identified. 4.2 Drawings are corrected, where necessary, and completed in accordance with the brief. 4.3 Presentation of drawings meet client and site requirements in terms of titling, supporting information, arrangement, and mounting.
