APPENDIX B PROPOSED AMENDMENT TO THE PENN STATE BERKS SENATE CONSTITUTION (Approved by the Senate Executive Committee on November 12, 2007) The Executive Committee of the Penn State Berks Senate does hereby propose that the following Amendment to the Penn State Berks Senate Constitution (duly ratified on Tuesday, May 2, 2006) be duly approved and ratified by the Penn State Berks Senate. Background and Rationale: There is currently a term limit for committee chairs and none for the Senate Officers. To reconcile this discrepancy, the following proposed amendment to the Constitution shall limit the term of office for the Chair, Vice Chair, and Secretary. Article III OFFICERS SECTION 1 ELECTIONS AND TERM OF OFFICE (a) The Penn State Berks Senate shall elect every year, or when a vacancy exists, a Chair, a Vice-Chair and a Secretary from among its full-time faculty members. (b) The term of office for the Chair, Vice Chair, and Secretary shall be for one (1) year beginning 1 June, with maximum being two (2) successive terms. (c) If any officer cannot complete his or her term, an election shall be held as soon as possible, and the elected individual shall complete the term of the out-going officer.
