Performance criteria 1.1 Tools selected and used match trench specifications. 1.2 The trench is dug without damage to equipment or self or others. 1.3 Excavated material is positioned conveniently without interfering with drainlaying. Element 2 Back-fill a pipe drain trench to provided specifications. Performance criteria 2.1 Tools selected and used suit the task. 2.2 The trench is back-filled without damage to equipment, self or others. 2.3 The site is left in a tidy, and as close to the original, condition as practicable. Element 3 Check existing drains. Range one of – open, sub-surface. Performance criteria 3.1 All visible blockages or blockage hazards are identified in terms of their potential effect and possible means of rectification. 3.2 Symptoms of poor drainage are identified in terms of pooling, scouring, no outlet flows, and smell. 3.3 The condition of the drains is reported and recorded in accordance with on-farm procedures. Performance criteria 4.1 Actual and potential blockages are cleared sufficiently for drainage. 4.2 Outlets are cleared in accordance with on-farm procedures. 4.3 Safe practices are used in terms of hygiene, physical safety, and use of equipment in accordance with on-farm procedures. Please note Providers must be accredited by NZQA, or an inter-institutional body with delegated authority for quality assurance, before they can report credits from assessment against unit standards or deliver courses of study leading to that assessment. Industry Training Organisations must be accredited by NZQA before they can register credits from assessment against unit standards. Accredited providers and Industry Training Organisations assessing against unit standards must engage with the moderation system that applies to those standards.
